Applying to Adopt, & Applicant Requirements

Adoption is the most important part of rescue, and we look forward to giving our felines their happily ever afters they so deserve. In order to be considered to adopt from BPKR we ask that you fill out the adoption application listed above, if you fit our adoption requirements. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Please make sure you’re committed to your application and the whole family agrees on the adoption. If you get a kitten from another rescue, you must let us know so we can withdraw your application.

We require that all adoption applicants comply with the following requirements:

-Applicant must be within a 2-hour drive of Hellertown, Pennsylvania.
This is for the sake of our kittens not being stressed on a long drive. Please search and see how far you are from Hellertown, Pennsylvania, if you are not sure.

-Applicant must be at least 18 years of age or older.

-Applicants interested in young kittens (under 6 months) MUST have another young feline in the home, or be interested in adopting a pair of kittens. We still encourage pairs for any age, and have the right to deny an application for a cat who needs a feline companion if the applicant has no current cats or is not interested in 2.

This is for the benefit of our kittens. In order to develop properly, both mentally & physically, kittens need a playmate to match their energy and enrichment level. Play time with humans is not the same enrichment compared to 2 kittens playing together.

It typically takes up to 5-7 days for an application to get approved; however, this can be shorter or longer depending on how many applications are being processed and if it’s for a specific kitten.

Adoption Fee’s

Kittens 1 year & under ~ $175

Cats 1 year+ ~ $125

These fee’s cover a small percentage of primary vet care, and other things kitties need while in rescue, so any additional donations are always appreciated!

Vetting before Adoption

Prior to adoption, all kittens have received…

-Spay or neuter surgery

-FVRCP/Feline Distemper vaccines (kittens will receive at least 2 FVRCP vaccines while in our care. You will be responsible for getting them a 3rd booster if they have not already received one)

- Rabies Vaccine (only if age applicable, typically 16 weeks or older)

-Microchip & Registration under our Rescue (you can also register the microchip as well, we will provide information on how to do this)

-FELV/FIV Testing (6 months + ONLY) (This is due to kittens having their mothers antibodies until around 6 months, we do not want to provide an inaccurate test result)

-Deworming

-Any necessary flea treatment

-Full vet exam from our veterinarian

-Any necessary additional vet care
